It was sad and quite surprising as Finn had not received a message in advance.

Yes. Finn has discovered the mermaids and they show up more often for him. They have a small supporting role in the story.
It was pure luck that one of them showed up at night when Finn was sailing around in his gloomy thoughts.

Ah… that’s so sad. Keala seems to have lived a full and fulfilling life, though. Maybe she’s at peace. But yes, it’s a good reminder to try and enjoy things while you still can.

Speaking of new things – I love how he’s slowly getting closer to discovering mermaids, literally and figuratively! We haven’t seen much of her yet but her tail was beautiful.
